SADS Medical Financial Support

SADS Medical Financial Support Pilot Scheme

Introduction

Supporting SADS patients is one of the SADS HK Foundation's core missions. The "SADS Medical Financial Support Pilot Scheme" will be launched starting 1 July 2026 to provide medical support to eligible SADS patients.

The applicants must be diagnosed with SADS by a cardiologist and assessed as requiring ICD or SICD implantation. All applications will be reviewed and submitted by the referring Medical Social Worker to SADS HK for consideration. Approval and funding decisions rest solely with SADS HK. Due to limited resources, the pilot scheme will initially focus on patients receiving care at Hong Kong Children’s Hospital.

For more details and enquiries, please contact SADS HK Foundation directly.

SADS Cardiology Clinic Subsidy Scheme

Introduction

To support the SCD victim's family members to see the cardiologist, SADS HK Foundation launches a "SADS subsidize scheme for clinical consultation"

Background

  • Some SADS cases are caused by genes, with a heritability rate of 50%.
  • In 2014, the Heart Rhythm Society, together with the Hong Kong Princess Margaret Hospital and the Department of Health, launched the first medical research on SADS in Hong Kong to identify sudden deaths of unknown cause
  • Even though the medical research is over, we hopes to continue to help the family members who may be related to SADS.
