The SADS Foundation is dedicated to informing the general public, families and medical professionals, about the effects of untreated/undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmias and the methods by which death can be prevented. Initiatives include sponsoring public awareness meetings in local communities, providing educational videos on SADS, and establishing media relationships to promote publicity about these "silent killers", through magazine and newspaper articles and TV & radio shows. Through comprehensive awareness programs, the Foundation hopes to prevent additional tragedies that can be avoided through early detection and proper treatment.
If you or someone close to you has recently been diagnosed with SADS (or SADS related conditions) - you probably have a lot of questions!
The first thing we want you to know is that there are a lot of amazing individuals and families living long and fulfilling lives with SADS conditions! The SADS Foundation will provide you the information and support to help you as you learn to live and thrive with this condition.
Help save the life of a relative - even one you may not know! Experts estimate that half of the 4000 SADS deaths each year in USA of children, teens and young adults had one of the 2 top warning signs:
Family History of a SADS diagnosis or the sudden unexplained or undiagnosed death of a family member
Genetic testing is considered the standard of care for Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) (and other SADS conditions) for both the diagnostic and treatment process. It can help clarify whether someone has the disease (and often if they don’t) and help doctors determine treatment.
